Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary receives conservation funding

Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary has received a $46,000 grant from the federal government.

The funding, confirmed by the government’s Threatened Species Commissioner on Monday, will be used by the Mole Creek animal sanctuary to build new breeding facilities for the Eastern barred bandicoot and Eastern bettong.

Trowunna were awarded the funding through the Threatened Species Recovery Fund.

The fund awards grants to entities working to protect Australia’s threatened species.

The Eastern barred bandicoot and Eastern bettong are both considered vulnerable and near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
