The Cupania Street blaze was reported to Tasmania Fire Service just after 5.30am Thursday, with multiple crews sent to the scene.
The incident was contained within the hour, but the fire caused about $80,000 damage to the home.
Nobody was home at the time.
Fire investigators completed their examination, finding the blaze had been deliberately-lit.
The matter was then handed over to Tasmania Police.
In August last year, a Cupania Street house was set alight, leaving a $30,000 damage bill.
Another home in the same street was targeted by arsonists in December, 2016.
That blaze caused $150,000 damage.
Anyone with information about the latest fire on Thursday should contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
