In an effort to forge stronger ties with the Hawthorn Football Club the City of Launceston will write to president Jeff Kennett, requesting a meeting in Launceston.
At Monday’s council meeting Alderman Darren Alexander asked if there was a way for a representative of the council to become a board member or member of a sub-committee.
He said the goal would be to ensure that when games were held in Launceston, they are maximised to their full potential for everyone across the city.
Five Saturday fixtures and a Victorian derby in the blockbuster timeslot are the highlights of Hawthorn’s 2018 AFL roster in Tasmania.
In addition to facing Carlton in the pre-season competition, the Hawks will host St Kilda (Round 6), Port Adelaide (Round 11), Gold Coast (Round 14) and Brisbane (Round 17) in the regular AFL season.
