The restaurant is set to be demolished to make way for a $5 million expansion of the Jackson Motor Company.
On Sunday developer Errol Stewart told The Examiner his company bought the Charles Street property last month and the sale is due to settle mid-year, subject to permits.
The growth of the Kia and Volkswagen dealerships determined the need to expand, Mr Stewart said.
While he originally planned to build two showrooms at the Lindsay Street site opposite the Silo Hotel, the Riverview opportunity could not to be passed up.
Rusty Jack’s owners took to the restaurant’s Facebook page to announce the closure.
“The owners are currently searching for a new premises to relocate Rusty Jack’s,” the post said.
“We will still be operating for outside catering and functions.”
The owners thanked their loyal customers.
“We look forward to welcoming you to our new premises very soon,” the post said.
