Nine of the government’s decided seats will be held by Liberal members north of Oatlands for the next term of government.
Five of the eight ministers are based in the Launceston area.
Mr Grose said the ministers would be clearly expected to retain seats in the next ministerial make-up but posited that Ms Courtney should be included, considering her professional credentials and high personal vote.
“As an institutional stockbroker with significant international financial experience, the operator of a successful small business and a qualified chemical engineer, Ms Courtney would easily adapt to any portfolio offered,” he said.
Mr Grose said he expected Treasurer Peter Gutwein, who he believed to be highly regarded by all in the state’s business sector, would remain Treasurer.
“Business appreciates consistency and it is clearly good for the North to have the Treasurer Peter Gutwein continue in that role,” he said.
Burnie Chamber of Commerce president Peter Holm wanted the state’s next Infrastructure Minister to be based in the North-West.
He said the region was the state’s “economic powerhouse” in terms of its agricultural output and export facilities, but this was not reflected in satisfying its infrastructure needs.
