Jenni and her husband Jossy Chacko founded ‘Empart’ – an organisation committed to bringing social justice and love to South East Asia.
Jemimah is currently studying International Law and organises liaison trips between Western and Eastern cultures.
Every year she takes a “schoolies” trip to India providing young people with an alternative option.
The mother and daughter are committed to fighting to bring change to South East Asia and ensure that women have a right to life, to education, to income, to wages, to legal and political rights.
“We don’t simply want information, we want to engage with the change,” said Tailrace manager Sharon O’Neill.
“At this International Women’s Day event attendees will have the opportunity to financially give to South East Asia and the work that Jenni and Jemimah are engaged in.
“One dollar goes a long way in South East Asia so it doesn’t matter how little that little is.”
And while it’s a “Girls Night In”, Tailrace Centre has invited the boys.
“Why? Because it’s not enough to educate women,” Sharon said.
“We need to educate men and get their support and engagement to being part of the change.
“The world will never change one gender alone. We need all genders working alongside of one another.”
An added bonus and a definite upbeat element to the night will be a performance by comedian Dylan Hesp.
Known for his energy, authenticity and strikingly satirical take on realistic characters, Dylan has been performing stand-up comedy throughout Australia since 2010.
An award-winning comedian and writer, Dylan was chosen to perform in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious Raw Comedy National Final in 2012.
In recent times he has performed alongside Australian favourites such as Sam Simmons, Rod Quantok, Dave O’Neill and Cal Wilson and has entertained and MC’d corporate events across Australia – all at just the young age of 25.
Dylan’s most recent success has been online, where he creates comedy shorts for his social media audience on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
These digital shorts have received over 280,000 views and have been viewed and shared by a growing audience around the globe who keep returning to Dylan’s unique brand of comedy.
The night starts at 5.30pm with food served on The Grazing Table at 6pm.
Ticket Prices: $30 for family pass members, $35 for non family pass members. Table of five $25 per person. Childcare can be arranged.
