Natural Resource Management North and City of Launceston Council are getting down to business ahead of Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday.
The organisations have formed a partnership as part of Business Clean Up Day and will spend Tuesday morning cleaning sections of the Tamar, and North and South Esk Rivers.
Volunteers from Conservation Australia and Pitt and Sherry will also be part of the event.
It marks the first time NRM North has participated in Business Clean Up Day, which is held annually as a precursor to Clean Up Australia Day.
NRM North biodiversity coordinator Alison Hugo said it was about drawing attention to the health of the natural environment in Launceston.
“We’ve always had a pretty strong focus on the Tamar estuaries, so we want to raise the profile of these sorts of areas within the community,” she said.
Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday, March 4.
