Tasmania Police is investigating a suspicious fire at a Sheffield service station early on Monday.

Police and the Tasmania Fire Service remain at the scene of a van fire which began at the United Service Station in Sheffield just after 3am on Monday.
A police spokesperson said initial investigations indicated someone was attempting to steal fuel when the van caught fire.
Police do not believe anyone was injured as a result of the fire.
Anyone who witnessed a light colored van in the area early this morning or who has information in relation to the attempted fuel theft is asked to contact Devonport CIB on 6478 4036 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
