The Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise will host its annual breakfast at the Grand Chancellor on March 7, with Her Excellency, the Governor of Tasmania, Professor Kate Warner set to be the keynote speaker.
Now in its fifth year, the breakfast will feature female students from Launceston and George Town attending for the first time in 2018.
“We’re absolutely thrilled we’re involving emerging female leaders and inviting people from local high schools to come and be a part of the breakfast,” Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise convener for the breakfast Jo Hart said.
“They’ll get to mix with some of our corporate leaders and get some inspiration about some of the issues facing women and many of the things they’ve achieved.
“What is happening is that there is much greater opportunity for women and much more talk among women about networks and support in the community.”
Among those in attendance will be a cohort of students from Port Dalrymple School.
“I’m excited, because it gives us an opportunity to celebrate the rights we’ve got as young women,” grade 10 Port Dalrymple School student Lara Baker said.
Co-founder of Healthy Tasmania Penny Terry will host the breakfast, with Bell Bay Aluminium also providing support.
The breakfast will run from 7am to 8.15am on March 7. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at eventsbytamarsunrise.com.
