On Saturday the inaugural A Day in the Kingsway will take over the Launceston street from 2pm to 9pm, with a great lineup of food, drink and live music.
Cityprom’s executive officer Steve Henty said the free event was aimed at re-acquainting people with Kingsway and the businesses that support it.
“I think a lot of people still think of Kingsway as being an old laneway that used to have Dick Smith on it,” he said.
“The reality is there is a great mix of shops and it is such a funky little space.
“This event is a great example of local businesses coming together to put on a great show.”
Saturday’s event will also celebrate the launch of Launceston’s first parklet – a public space created as part of the City of Launceston’s City Heart Project.
Mr Henty said the project was part of a long-term focus to encourage more people into the city on foot, with outdoor spaces to sit back and relax.
