Starting at 3.25pm, the eight-race twilight meet will climax with the $12,000 Carrick Cup.
However, there is a lot more going on at the Carrick Pacing Club on Saturday apart from the 2650-metre race, according to club secretary Sandra Rybarcyk.
Among the activities will be fashions on the field, a polocrose display and a celebrity race featuring, among others, Lyons Liberal MHA Guy Barnett, opposition Leader Rebecca White and Meander Valley citizen of the year Toby Ritter.
The field of Tasmanian celebrities will race down the straight carted along by ponies.
“I was talking to Guy on Tuesday evening and he was very confident,” Mr Ritter said.
“Rebecca White’s also a good horsewoman so I’m a bit worried there.
“I hope that I can get in front.”
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children under 16 enter for free.
