On Thursday, about 2300 people entered the site for the festival’s "pre-party”.
Musical acts Baker Boy, Mallrat, Byron Bay’s Drop Legs, Waax and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets performed.
Festival director Jesse Higgs said he was “stoked” that everyone wanted to come back and party again this year.
“We’ve grown with PITP. We have taught ourselves how to run a festival and I’m just thankful for anyone who has let us experiment on them,” he said.
This year the festival has started using Awok, which Mr Higgs describes as ‘pay wave on a wristband’.
On Friday, more than 4000 people are expected to set up camp for the weekend before Tkay Maidza, Gang of Youths and Client Liaison perform.
