Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said he had not personally heard what the outcome had been of a emergency meeting of the show society’s board.
“But I understand our staff are meeting with them this week and we are waiting for them to get back to us,” he said.
In late December a last-ditch attempt to save the show, by asking the council to buy back the show society’s lease, failed.
The society was contacted for comment.
