The seals were discovered swimming near King’s Bridge on Thursday afternoon before they flopped into the same rock.
It started a cacophony of barks from one seal, which echoed through the gorge.
It was tough luck for the other seal, who slipped back into the water to find another snooze-worthy rock.
Denise Pivetta, of Sydney, saw her first seals in Launceston earlier in the day on a river cruise.
A seal popped up around King’s Bridge and had a bit of a splash before disappearing again about 10am, she said.
Two seals surfaced near King’s Bridge in the early afternoon, she though they were playing.
However, when they beached themselves on the same rock, some echoing barks sent one of them flopping back into water, she said.
She had watched seal shows at Taronga Zoo, but here she could watch them play in the wild, she said.
