Two teams of four boys and four girls will be granted exclusive access round Melbourne Park as they contest the national Super 10s event.
Among them will be the Mathew Carswell-coached Jack Heathcote.
“He’s a really good worker and it’s been great to watch him grow in confidence, not just on the tennis court, but in life in general,” Carswell said of the Deloraine youngster.
“Jack’s had a pretty good year and competed well through the junior development series and tournaments.
“He’s been selected at number two for Tasmania going into the Super 10s national event.
“He has been selected on the back of not just his performance throughout the Tasmanian Super 10s series but also his tournament performance and application across the past 12 months.”
The Australian Open is the only Grand Slam that embraces the under-10s concept, which Tasmanian talent manager Trent Constance said pits the nation’s top 32 boys and 32 girls against each other.
“They will all compete in mixed state teams throughout four days of competition in the second week of the Open,” Constance said.
The state teams will fly out on January 23 and return home on January 28.
