More than 30 Santas have been placed around the Hobart Road strip in a bid to bring back the spirit of Christmas.
Organised by the Southern Launceston Community Development committee, the Kings Meadows Christmas scavenger hunt finishes on Wednesday Jodie Johnson said.
“We wanted people to drive through Hobart Road and get a little bit of the Christmas spirit happening because people are forgetting what Christmas is about,” Ms Johnson said.
All the businesses on Hobart Road were approached to take part, she said. They were given a Santa and entry forms and had to supply a gift worth about $25.
The aim is for children to find all the Santas, cross them off their entry form and return it to the stocking at the Launceston YMCA.
The Kings Meadows-based club will accept entry forms until Wednesday.
“These little Hobart Road shops don’t get noticed much so it was a way of bringing attention to them and already people have said to me ‘I didn’t know that shop existed there’,” Ms Johnson said.
