More than 120 painting and photos were entered into the Small Wonders Art Exhibition, which was held at Longford Christ Church Parish Hall.
Phillip Austen won the overall winner’s prize of $1000 for his pastel piece ‘Scarred but still king’.
Smith said she was delighted with the quality and quantity of the artworks submitted.
“We had artists from all over the north, but quite a number from Longford itself which once again puts Longford in the centre of the arts scene in Northern Tasmania,” Smith said.
“However, because of the variety of works on show, it made it a challenge for our chief judge Michael McWilliams to make a decision on the winner.”
Eight short-listed finalist artworks were announced, including work by Phillip Austen, Alison Cooper-White, Carlton Cox, Rachel Howell, Hugh Mackinnon, Darren Meader, Ben Miller and Brad Quinn.
Darren Meader’s oil painting ‘Grand on Garfield’ was presented with the encouragement award while Rachel Howell’s pastel work ‘Love this place’ won the People’s Choice Award.
The exhibition was held between December 1 and 3. Smith thanked all the volunteers and artists who put the exhibition together.
