The Northern Golf event will see 76 competitors take to the fairways for the open men and women’s A, B and C-grade, junior and senior trophies.
Mowbray general manger Patrick Bessell said seven divisional championships will be decided.
“The A-grade girls start at 7.30am and they along with the A-grade men play 36 holes, whereas the juniors and seniors will play just 18 holes,” Bessell said.
“It will be a big day of golf with plenty of talent on display and we are pleased to be the host club.
“It’s a big field to get through, it will be a busy day that’s for sure.”
Twenty one-time champion Tammy Hall will be in action to defend her women’s title, while past men’s winners Nathan Gatehouse and seven-time titleholder Michael Leedham are among the favourites.
The junior boys championship will be fought out between Jack Blair, James Fiddian, Ronan Filgate, Jack Lakin and Dylan Backhouse.
The event will be held in conjunction with the two-day Tasmanian PGA on Sunday and Monday. Bessell said about 12 state professionals including Bryce Gorham, Scott Priest and defending champion Steve Frith would be taking part.
Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on some of the region’s best talent.
