Luke McGregor returns home for Fresh Comedy performance

It’s been a massive year for Luke McGregor, and the comedian is looking to go places in 2018 as well, albeit in a more literal sense.

Speaking about his plans for next year, the Rosehaven star said he wanted to travel in style.

“I’ve been thinking about getting a scooter,” he said.

“Right now I’ve got a bicycle, but I think it would be cool to get a Vespa.

“I don’t know how I’d go with the extra speed, but I guess we’ll see.”

McGregor arrived in his home state this week on the back of attending the AACTA awards, where his writing partner Celia Pacquola took out Best Performance in a Comedy Series.

It’s another feather in the cap for Rosehaventhe second season of which has received widespread acclaim since it premiered in October.

McGregor said he didn’t take the positive feedback for granted.

“It’s really nice to go home for the holidays and be able to tell my relatives I have a job,” he said.

“We really liked writing it, so it’s great to hear people say they like it as well.”

It’s not just the prospect of spending Christmas with his family that brings McGregor back home, with the 34-year-old to perform at the Tramsheds on December 22 as part of Fresh Comedy.

He is making a habit of ending the year on the Launceston stage, having performed as part of Fresh Comedy’s inaugural gala event last year.

While he admitted to feeling a bit more pressure due to his ever-rising profile, he said it was always a treat to perform in front of familiar faces.

“This gig is always really fun, mainly because it is an excuse to catch up with people,” he said.

“Whenever I do a show in Tasmania, I’ve always feel like I have to prove myself a bit, so there is pressure there.

“My parents will be in the crowd, so I want to do well in front of them.”

Luke McGregor will perform at The Tramsheds on Friday, December 22. Ticket information can be found here.
