The agricultural economics student Josh Brown has been completing his masters degree at Copenhagen University and taking an intensive summer course in data handling and GIS mapping.
He is also working in Denmark’s largest engineering consultancy firm Rambøll, and said the scholarship helped get him to where he was.
“To be supported by the funds while I study has gone a long way to building my skills and knowledge,” Mr Brown said.
“I have also been invited to participate in a large inter-university study that could see me traveling around and interviewing farmers in Australia,” he said.
Greenham has thrown support behind Tasmanian agriculture again by offering the $12,000 scholarship for 2018.
The scholarship funds formal study towards a career in the beef or dairy industries during 2018.
Greenham Tasmania managing director Peter Greenham said the industry needed to encourage the next generation of beef and dairy specialists.
“Beef and dairy in particular, represent over $700 million (FY 15/16) to Tasmania’s annual economic output and Greenham scholarship winners like Josh Brown represent the future of our industry,” Mr Greenham said.
Application forms and information sheets are available from scholarships@greenham.com.au or www.greenham.com.au and apply by January 30.
