Tasmania Police is recommending the following roads only be used by four-wheel-drives;
- Interlaken Road, from Interlaken to Steppes;
- Lachlan Road, Lachlan; and
- Poatina Road, Poatina, from Macquarie Road to Highland Lakes Road – chained vehicles can also access this road.
Nant Lane at Bothwell is closed due to flooding. Pinnacle Road at Mount Wellington is also closed.
On Sunday the Bureau of Meteorology issued a minor flood warning for the North Esk, South Esk, Macquarie River, River Derwent, River Clyde and Jordan River.
Minor flooding of the North Esk River, near Corra Linn, was expected to develop on Sunday night.
In the 48 hours to 1pm on Sunday, rainfall totals of 50 to 70 millimetres were recorded in the North Esk catchment.
Monday is expected to reach a maximum of 21 degrees in Launceston.
It’ll be a partly cloudy day with light winds. The UV index is predicted to reach 11, which is extreme.
The sun will return on Tuesday with a maximum of 25 degrees predicted in Launceston.
