Mr Terry set social media alight after making a brief cameo appearance last season but this time he will compete on MKR with sister Anna.
The bother and sister team can be seen on MKR’s promotional clip which began airing recently.
Mr Terry became a surprise overnight sensation thanks to last season’s Tassie team, East Cam couple Damien and Caroline Aherne, known as Damo and Caz, who visited Tasmanian Truffles to source the exotic ingredient.
The 25-year-old farm manager stole the scene with his appearance set to Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s Whatta Man. A truckload of his admirers on social media were asking to see more of him. Mr Terry previously told Fairfax Media the “experience was both embarrassing and flattering”.
The best aspect for the truffle farm was being showcased to a national audience.
Henry and Anna belong to one of the state’s pioneering truffle families. Their father Tim was the first to grow black truffles in Australia and young Henry was there when the first truffle was harvested in 1999. Lifelong farmer, Tim, learnt from the French about truffles but had to innovate to develop a system to grow them on the other side of the world. The rare subterranean fungus which grows under trees and costs between $2000 to $3000 per kilo has been dubbed black gold.
Trained dogs are used at harvest time to smell the trees and pick up the truffle scent.
“It’s changed so much from when dad and mum started out. No-one really knew what truffles were and chefs in Australia didn’t know what to do with them,” Mr Terry said earlier this year.
“It took a lot of hard work for mum and dad to grow truffles and get the market established. (Now) demand is greater within Australia whereas mum and dad used to export all over the world”.
Earlier this year Mr Terry told Fairfax Media of plans to expand the agri-tourism aspect of the truffle experience at Tasmanian Truffles before next truffle season.
Tasmania has become a must-do destination for foodies to visit.
While her brother manages the truffle farm Anna takes care of their social media presence on Facebook and instagram and studies interstate.
”We work as a team and as a family,” Mr Terry said then.
“I keep the farm going but I’ve still got a lot to learn and rely heavily on mum and dad for advice.”
Mr Terry appeared on Sunrise and in New Idea since gaining MKR fame.
