The Triple A exhibition has been judged, and the artwork will stay on display at Eskleigh until March 1 2018.
The major prize of $1,000 was taken home by talented Launceston artist Clare Holder with her artwork titled ‘Autumn Sunset, Looking West’.
Exhibition judge Eva Mehegan said that judging the pieces was not an easy task.
“Because of the great diversity and quality of the artworks, the judging of this award was not an easy task,” Ms Mehegan said.
“The winning subject stood out with its mastery of technique, tonal value, depth, and mood.
“It [‘Autumn Sunset, Looking West’] drew the viewer in to further explore the detail of the scene,” she said.
Also on display are artworks created by Eskleigh residents, which were completed during the year in art therapy classes with tutors from the Launceston Art Society.
The winner from this group was Peter Wellard, with his piece, ‘A Magical Place’.
Ms Mehegan said that the pieces showed the great effort the Eskleigh residents put into their art.
“The Eskleigh residents artworks demonstrated the effort that they had put in throughout the year.
“It was credit to the Launceston Art Society volunteers who worked with them,” she said.
“Again, it was hard to choose a winner, but the colourful work by Peter Wellard caught the judge’s eye.”
The exhibition is open from 10:30am to 3:30pm daily.
