The jury will head to a property on Lottah Road where 47-year-old Dean Manshanden was found dead in October last year.
His neighbour, Kerry Alexander Bilston, has pleaded not guilty to murdering him.
The trial into Mr Manshanden’s killing began in the Launceston Supreme Court on Monday and the jury heard there had been “animosity” between him and Mr Bilston for much of last year.
The neighbors argued over a shared driveway and Mr Bilston had reported Mr Manshanden to Parks and Wildlife, accusing him of cutting down trees on Crown land at the back of their properties, the court heard.
When he was arrested, Mr Bilston admitted to police he shot Mr Manshanden in the back of the head but said he only wanted to “scare” him, not kill him.
“My intention was to show him I did have a gun,” he said.
Mr Bilston also told police he was “frightened” of Mr Manshanden, claiming he had bullied him and his partner for months – he described the incident as a “tragic end” to “ongoing harassment”.
But Director of Public Prosecutions Daryl Coates told the court on Monday Mr Bilston “wasn’t able to explain what the deceased actually did”.
Mr Coates said when he was interviewed by police, Mr Bilston showed “no remorse, nor was he devastated he shot the deceased”.
Mr Manshanden’s partner and a number of police officers have already given evidence, with more than 20 witnesses expected to take the stand before Justice Robert Pearce over the next week.
