Future work at the venue will include replacing non-compliant glazing on the concourse walls and roof, as well as a revamp of the toilet facilities.
A new entrance will be installed as part of plans, which will have ticketing and security functions.
Objectives also include realigning the venue’s catering capacity “with the expectations of its users.”
Australia’s first indoor velodrome, the Silverdome was built in 1984 at an estimated cost of $4 million.
It has since played host to range of different concerts and sporting events.
State Corporate and Culture Director Renee Anderson said the need for compliance prompted the application.
“Through this development, the Silverdome will be able to rectify compliance issues, and hopefully increase patronage,” she said.
“While there is no funding available at present for any future work, this may change when outcomes of the Northern Stadium Strategy are identified.”
