The multiple national medalist hammer thrower will use the Athletics Tasmania Local Athletics Series meet as preparation for the summer’s most important event in February – the Australian Athletics Championships.
His brother Hamish is almost certain to represent Australia in the javelin but Peacock is facing a tough battle with five national athletes already throwing the hammer beyond the qualifying standard.
The are just three spots.
Peacock, is ranked second behind Queensland's Matt Denny, will be looking to consolidate his position next month against NSW hopefuls William Brown and Costa Kousparis.
All three men have already recorded qualifying throws, but will be looking to impress selctors.
“There is a new circle up at the Domain Athletics Centre and it's fast, so hopefully Costa, Will and I can all push beyond our personal bests,” Peacock said.
