Three people have been taken to Royal Hobart Hospital following a two-vehicle crash in the Central Highlands.
A car was destroyed following a head-on crash between a white Toyota Rav 4 and a silver Subaru sedan on the Highland Lakes Road at ‘Tod’s Corner’.
Tasmania Police confirmed the three people in the vehicles were transported to hospital by an ambulance with leg, chest and abdominal injuries.
“None of the injuries are described as life threatening.”
Tasmania Police said the preliminary enquiries indicated the Subaru sedan was on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash.
Investigations were ongoing, and speed, alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be a factor, police confirmed.
“As a result of the crash the Subaru sedan caught fire and was completely destroyed,” Tasmania Police said.
“No one was injured as a result of the fire as the occupant had previously been assisted from the vehicle.”
Traffic flow was affected for about three hours as a result of the crash.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash are asked to contact Constable Angela Lang, from Kempton Police, on 13144 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
