A brutal opening bowling partnership from ex-Launceston pace duo Ben Fraser and Alex Pyecroft saw New Town bowled out for 46 in Cricket Tasmania’s premier league on Saturday.

With a second day’s play to follow next weekend, the pair all but won the match in the first 23 overs, with Pyecroft taking the incredible figures of 6-17 off 10 overs while Fraser collected 3-16 off six.
In reply, North Hobart made it to 249 before declaring with two wickets in hand to have another crack at the New Town lineup before stumps.
Fellow ex-Cricket North bowlers James Bowen and Jacob Kooran had less luck in Glenorchy’s match against Kingborough as the Knights piled on 3-370 thanks to an unbeaten double century from Nathan Freitag.
Both bowlers went for less than four an over but failed to pick up a wicket.

Tasmanian skipper George Bailey was dismissed for 12 but his side still compiled 6-392 by the end of the day’s play to take a commanding position into next week.
Fellow Tigers players Jake Doran and Jordan Silk made 87 and 11 respectively for North Hobart, while Ben Dunk made 21 for South Hobart Sandy Bay.
