The reigning T20 champions compiled 4-162 from their 20 overs with Max Hunt (30) and Ramesh Sundra (23 not out) giving Garwood plenty of support.
John McCoy (2-21 off four) was the pick of the Knights’ bowlers while Jack Young conceded just 20 off his four overs.
Riverside then made early breakthroughs with Sean Harris and Charlie Tindall both making starts before being caught off Luke Midson and Oli Wood (2-29) respectively.
Second-drop Jeremy Jackson then set about leading the Knights’ run chase, combining with Alec Smith (25) on his way to a spectacular knock of 67.
But Garwood picked up with the ball where he left off with the bat, removing Jackson on his way to figures of 3-29 as the Blues collected a 35-run win.
