The family-run bakery owned by Leigh and Debra Townsend first announced it would be closing down in July.
The decision came in response to health food regulations would require a costly upgrade of about $30,000.
Mr Townsend said Friday was flat out, selling all of their famous cream cakes before 10am with more than 80 cakes sold during the day.
“I want to say sorry to everyone who missed out,” he said.
“We made double but we have just been completely overwhelmed and sold out of everything.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the support.
“We won’t close the doors until the last cake is gone, but they are moving quickly.”
The Examiner received hundreds of responses to a Facebook post announcing the closure, with many people sharing fond memories of the store and thanking the family for their hard work.
