Chris Duffy said to see his son Jack walk his leg of the Commonwealth Games torch relay would be a “bit of work”.
Jack has cerebral palsy.
“We would like to get him walking with a frame for his part of it ... it will be a challenge, but it reflects on what Jack is doing,” he said.
“He is setting an example for people with disabilities.”
It is a huge honour. I was quite taken aback when the email came through that I was nominated. I was very humbled.
- Denise Delphin
Jack will be joined by Northern Suburbs Community House manager Denise Delphin to carry the torch through Launceston.
“It is a huge honour. I was quite taken aback when the email came through that I was nominated. I was very humbled, but it’s pretty cool and exciting,” Ms Delphin said.
She was nominated for her dedicated community work.
Jack was nominated, along with his parents Chris and Erin, for the work the family does to raise money for charities.
The torch will embark on a 100-day journey throughout Australia. About 3800 Australians will carry the baton.
