Invermay man accused of making fake $50 notes

An Invermay man has denied making fake money.

Thomas James Aliano, 38, was charged after police allegedly found him with 58 fake $50 notes in Launceston in March.

Police have also alleged he had paper, enamel, cutting tools and other material used to make counterfeit money.

Mr Aliano was charged with possessing and making counterfeit money and possessing material used for making counterfeit money.


He appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Defence lawyer Grant Tucker told the court his client was maintaining his innocence, having previously pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

Magistrate Ken Stanton adjourned the case for hearing on December 18.

Mr Aliano was remanded in custody until that date but will appear via video link on November 8 for mention of the matter.
