A group of ten children attended the event at Prince’s Square and used foam swords to practice some classic swashbuckling moves.
The family-friendly affair provided an opportunity for children to get active in a unique and enjoyable environment according to the group.
The Van Diemen's Land Pirate Crew formed in 2016 after breaking away from a local costume maker.
“We were with Costumes by Anna – she was making the costumes,” event co-organiser Allison Suitor said.
“We’ve branched off to our own thing because she wasn’t interested in events and we were.”
The group also run monthly pirate singing and dancing classes in Launceston and Devonport, and often attend public events dressed in full pirate garb.
