Marriage Redefinition
CONGRATULATIONS to The Examiner for using the heading ‘marriage redefinition’ for a letter (The Examiner, September 4) affirming that it’s OK to say ‘No’ in the postal ballot. I have said before that ‘marriage equality’ is a misnomer. The ‘Yes’ vote is not, as in permitting inter-racial marriage, about equal access to an existing institution. The ‘Yes’ vote is about moving the goalposts. But if the ‘Yes’ vote was marketed as ‘marriage redefinition’, would it attract support?

North Korea
WITH THE current rate of Chinese foreign investment in Australia (buying everything from cattle stations, dairy farms and top Sydney real estate) we have nothing to fear from any North Korean missile entering Australian air space. For North Korea's greatest ally is China, so they wouldn't dare upset the Chinese by destroying China's pot of gold here, now would they?

Rohingya Persecution
THE WORLD’S most persecuted people, the Rohingya Muslims, whom are stateless, are being subjected to the killing, rape and burning of villages, by the Myanmar military. The conspicuous silence of defacto Myanmar leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace laureate, has been deafening.

AMA Scheme
THE AUSTRALIAN Medical Association has backed the government’s restricted approach on access to medicinal cannabis (The Examiner, September 1). Labor justice spokeswoman Lara Giddings said: “It’s going to take time for people to even see a specialist before they could have medicinal cannabis prescribed to them”. Ms Giddings is correct about that, I am terminally ill and have been waiting four years to see a neurologist. I ask the AMA what is the active ingredient in medicinal cannabis that offers pain relief? I don’t believe there is any, and the tetrahydrocannabinol only gets you stoned. No-one has explained how the drug works - why not?
