Playing in his 100th game for the club, the 44-year-old veteran was tireless in his side’s grand final win, constantly giving his midfielders first look at the footy.
McLean said he was uncertain whether he would play on next season.
“I haven’t decided yet,” he said.
“I keep saying if someone wants my job then they can come and take it off me, but no-one’s stepping up to take it off me so who knows, we’ll wait and see.”
Many are hoping McLean does stay on – not least his coach Thane Bardenhagen.
“We said going into the game that he’s $1.20 to win the (medal) because he plays that well in grand finals,” Bardenhagen said.
“He’s been through a lot with his health and things and to come out here today and play as well as he did is an outstanding effort and I’m proud of him.”
