A parliamentary standing committee held the hearing. If the bridge is replaced it would be brought up to Australian standards.
The bridge provides a regional link to Bicheno for freight vehicles.
Its replacement will ensure the structure will be able to meet the anticipated future increase.
The replacement will allow an increase in speed from 70 kilometres an hour to 100km/h.
The report will be tabled in parliament.
