Camped outside the National Automobile Museum, the group shared their visions with members of the public.
“At the moment the $50,000 independent study is looking into our viability and we are pretty positive about that,” Wendy McLennan said.
“This is a bigger project then the North-East, we are going to be setting the example for the whole state.”
Last weekend a group of farmers, residents and supporters built 40 metres of track on private property at Karoola to allow them space to fix their railcar.
In May the state government announced that an independent third party would assess the viability of a heritage rail service on the North-East rail trail corridor before decisions are made on a bike track.
Since 2014 the Dorset Council and the North East Rail Trail Association have been developing a plan for a rail trail along the corridor.
