At 11 metres high and 50 metres long it features slides and climbing nets.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said, as part of the $9 million North Bank project, the redevelopment would also include barbecue and toilet facilities, a parkour course, a sports court, and an events lawn.
"This is a huge project for Launceston and one which is going to delight people of all ages," he said.
North Bank will feature four play zones, an all-abilities play equipment, recreational trails and event spaces.
Park equipment will include an outdoor ping-pong table, a water area, trampoline and a bird’s nest swing.
Alderman van Zetten said a footbridge from Seaport to North Bank and the relocation of Boral concrete would make the site “more accessible than it has ever been”.
A development application will be lodged, and construction on the playground is expected to begin early next year.
