Official nominations for the October local government elections closed at noon today.
According to the commission, more than 80 candidates will be chosen for positions on Northern Tasmanian councils when the elections are held next month.
The full list of candidates will be published in The Examiner on Thursday.
A field of 20 candidates is standing for the Launceston City Council, eight are standing for the Northern Midlands and 13 people have nominated for the Meander Valley Council.
Fifteen people have chosen to stand for the West Tamar Council, 13 for Dorset, 10 for George Town and four for the Flinders Council.
