The 46-year-old was chosen by the party over fellow contender and former Bass Liberal MHA David Fry.
Mr Fry previously said he only made the decision to seek preselection for Bass seat after the withdrawal of another candidate -- Brigadier Andrew Nikolic -- who withdrew from the preselection race citing personal reasons.
Liberal Party state presdident Sam McQuestin said Mr Titmus was "a great candidate'' who would work hard to "get things done''.
"Steve has spent many, many years in Launceston and has great connections with the local community through different organisations, networks and friends and family,'' Mr McQuestin said.
Mr Titmus said he believed the Liberals could wrest Bass back from Labor at the next election.
"Labor holds the seat by a very small margin,'' Mr Titmus said.
"I believe Bass deserves better and I will be listening to what people have to say and then working hard to get those things fixed.''
