Last week the pub poured its first Chin Chin, a beer the brewers say is a twist on a traditional porter.
Little Rivers co-owner Chris Carins was happy to be involved with designing a beer for the pub.
“They came to us a few months ago and wanted to have their own beer on tap. They asked if we would design it,” he said.
“It was really good because we’re really close to Weldborough. They’re sort of our local, we really work together with those guys.”
He said while the name of the beer had a “good ring to it”, he only brewed it.
The mastermind behind the name was Weldborough Hotel licensee Amanda Gunn.
Hotel manager Anne Carter said the name idea came to her while driving to Weldborough.
Ms Carter said the licencee named the beer Chin Chin for two reasons.
“The first reason is because chin chin is an exclamation used to express good wishes before drinking. The other reason is because the Chinese man that owned the first casino in Weldborough called Maa Mon Chin.
“We named it Chin Chin for the good wishes and also after Maa Mon Chin just as a memorial.
“He was the wealthy merchant and the leader of the Chinese community at Weldborough.”

Ms Carter said she has sold a “few” beers.
“Everyone was really happy with it,” she said.
“It’s a quite nice easy drinking beer, considering it’s a dark larger. It’s not a thick dark larger and it’s not like a stout. It’s got a good winter feeling with it.”
Little Rivers Brewing Co recently cleaned up at the Australian Craft Beer Awards.
Their European Dark Larger won a “well deserved” silver.
The brewing company’s stout came away with a bronze.
They took to their Facebook page to make the announcement.
“We are stoked with our results,” the post said.
“Massive congratulations to Chris Carins and Busta Whelan for their hard work and continuously producing these delicious beers.”
The Weldborough Hotel is open Thursday to Sunday, from 11.30am until late, through winter.
