Now is the time to discover Australia by train with the launch of Great Southern Rail’s 2018/19 itineraries.
Join the Indian Pacific as it crosses from Sydney to Perth or vice versa and step off in towns across the country including Broken Hill, Adelaide, Rawlinna, Cook and Kalgoorlie.
From April 2018, guests travelling from Perth to Sydney will be able to disembark in the Blue Mountains and relish in the expansive views and natural surrounds before completing their journey to cosmopolitan Sydney.
Other Off Train Excursions along the way will allow sports lovers to reflect in the Sir Donald Bradman Museum at the Adelaide Oval or take a tour of the South Australian Museum after hours. Wine lovers will delight in the acclaimed McLaren Vale and the Barossa regions, while those looking for heritage and fine chocolate will find their happy place in the Adelaide Hills.
Travelling the north-south axis of Australia and heading through the country’s heart is the legendary Ghan. Next year, the season extends for The Ghan Expedition and will run from April to October 2018 and March 2019. This world-renowned train trip takes guests on a three-night, four-day journey through the middle of Australia, with stops at Katherine, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy.
Guests onboard The Ghan and Indian Pacific have a choice of Gold or Platinum Service with both services including all Off Train Excursions, meals and beverages.
Save up to $1,460* per couple on The Ghan Expedition, $1,140* per couple on the Indian Pacific and $1,060* per couple on The Ghan for travel in a Gold Service twin cabin.
