Tassie hockey record win over ACT and draw against Northern Territory

A fresher Tasmania has recorded its second men’s victory in Wollongong at the Australian under-21 hockey championships.

Tasmania had to bounce back from an early mishap on Thursday to beat ACT 2-1.

The Canberrans scored inside the second minute to initially take the lead.

But Ben Austin returned fire twice – both in the first half – to guide Tassie home after its rest day.

The state women had to settle on securing a 1-1 draw against Northern Territory.

Madeleine Hinton locked in a early second-half goal in reply to the Territorians’ first.
