Police said the man possibly suffered a medical episode before the incident.
A male passenger, in his 40s, was also in the car, but his injuries are unknown.
The second car is believed to have been a council ute with one male driver inside. His injuries are also unknown.
The road remains blocked.
UPDATE 4PM: One person has died in a crash on Evandale Road.
The road remains blocked.
EARLIER: A “serious” crash has blocked Evandale Road at Western Junction.
Police and emergency services are at the scene after two cars reportedly crashed.
The road is blocked between Perth Mill Road and Leighlands Road.
Drivers have been asked to avoid the area until further notice.
Injuries have not yet been reported.
