John’s Legacy is the first horse that Hill bred after the death of her father, prominent owner-breeder John Jetson, in 2012.
The JR Mint three-year-old was having only his fourth start and got the money after what Hill described as “a very smart drive” by gun young reinsman Jack Laugher.
“He’s a special horse to us – Dad owned JR MInt and also had a share in Time Stands Still who is the sire of his dam,” the trainer explained.
Hill won her first race in 2009 with Rubikhan who was only lightly raced due to injury.
“I train a couple of horses as a hobby, working with Kate MacLeod, but breeding is the main thing for me,” she said.
Hill has taken over running Jetsonville Park Stud where her main broodmare is Mon Poppy Mary, an Evicus Stakes winner and dam of top pacer Black Centurian.
The best horse bred by the stud has been Quastor Centurion.
