In a national poll, Hobart, Freycinet and Stanley secured enough votes to feature on Monopoly’s Australia edition board.
In November Australians were invited to cast votes for the places they would like to see on the board.
Sydney cemented its position as Australia’s most expensive real estate, taking out the coveted blue Mayfair position with 6.3 per cent of the vote.
On the scale of valuable Monopoly real estate, Tasmania was ranked seventh.
Tourism Tasmania submitted five locations which could feature on the board.
Hobart secured 4 per cent of the vote, ahead of Freycinet National Park with 2.6 per cent, and Stanley’s 1.9 per cent.
The three locations beat Strahan‘s 1.7 per cent and 0.5 per cent for Evandale in securing a place on the board.
The Monopoly Australia election was the result of a combined collaboration between the world-famous game and the tourism office for each state and territory, which provided the shortlists of five key locations.
During the three-week election period in November 2016, more than 35,000 Monopoly fans voted for their favourite locations and attractions in each state or territory to determine which top two or three would receive a place on the all-new Monopoly Australia board.
In the final tally, 22 regions were given the nod, with Queensland nipping at NSW’s heels to take out second spot for the Green property portfolio. The Sunshine State championed its renowned holiday destinations, with the Whitsundays, Gold Coast and Tropical North Queensland all making the cut.
Hasbro Australia’s Brand Manager for Monopoly, Tiffany Vibert said the new edition celebrated Australian traditions and lifestyles in every aspect of play.
Six highly collectable Australian tokens include; a barbeque, kangaroo, kookaburra, cricket bat, meat pie and a surf board rider.
The Community Chest and Chance Cards also offer players the chance to sell their State-of-Origin tickets or sell their lamingtons at the school fete.
