Club president Alan Weeding said a development application for a second storey on the clubhouse has been passed by the City of Launceston council.
“That’s quite a milestone for the club, we’re going to … flood-proof ourselves for the next hundred years,” Weeding said.
“We can move forward with confidence now.”
Floodwaters went through the entire clubhouse in 2016, but precious memorabilia from the club’s 141 years was saved.
Weeding said the club was “still very much alive” with rowers from all ages and skills preparing for competition.
“Our goal this year is to win the senior men’s eight, and the senior women’s eight,” he said.
“When something like this happens, clubs can disappear, or they can become stronger – and we’ve become stronger.”
