Held to coincide with the brown trout spawning season, the event has previously brought up to 4000 people to the region. Inland Fisheries organise the weekend, which has been running for three decades.
Section manager Chris Wisniewski expects another strong turnout across Saturday and Sunday.

Included as part of the weekend are a junior angling pond, trout cooking demonstrations, helicopter rides designed to give a bird’s eye view of the Central Plateau, and a host of trade exhibits. The winner of the Tasmanian Trout Fishing Competition will also be announced, with cash and fishing gear prizes available in both the junior and senior categories.
The Trout Weekend will run from 10am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday at Liawenee. Entry is free.
