“It didn’t end up being just new residents. It was anyone who wanted to find out what community groups and organisations are available in the town and who to talk to to be able to join,” organiser Shirley Rootes Matin said.
Mrs Rootes Martin said the event was really successful.
“People who hadn’t met, or didn’t know what was going on in the town, found out that the ambulance service wanted more people, or that they could join rotary or that there is a walking club, found out all about those,” she said.
It was the first time Mrs Rootes Martin organised the meet.
