Here for Targa Tasmania, the LaFerrari is just one of 12 Ferraris taking part in Targa’s tour stage.
The event also marks the first time Ferrari’s new GTC4Lusso has been displayed in Australia.
Ferrari chief executive Herbert Appleroth said the LaFerrari had the latest technology and was one of just 499 made.
“(It has) 960 horsepower. 800 horsepower combustion engine and 160 horsepower hybrid engine and that is the very latest from Ferrari,” he said.
“The GT4 Lusso is a two-door, four-seater ultimate 4WD (and) four-wheel-steer. (It’s) absolutely perfect for Targa conditions, but also for everyday family owners.”
Mr Appleroth said being involved in the 26th Targa Tasmania was a way to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari.
“Targa races are the traditional way of Ferraris. We started our history at Targa Florio (in Italy), so we’re very happy to be here in Tasmania,” he said.
“This is the most important Targa for the southern hemisphere, it’s a legendary race.”
The field of Ferraris will travel across the state over the five days before finishing in Hobart on Saturday.
“There are about 12 cars (in the convoy) ranging from everything from the 1970s 308 GTS to the latest LaFerrari, which is kind of the feature car,” Mr Appleroth said.
He hopes all Tasmanian Ferrari fans show their passion.
“We’ve had some fantastic gestures off the side of the road since we’ve driven here off the Spirit of Tasmania (on Sunday). It’s been really quite amazing. I think the whole of Tasmania really grasps this fantastic event.”
The cars have travelled from all over Australia to take part. Mr Appleroth said very few of the drivers had previously been to Tasmania.
“These are Australian’s that haven’t been to Tasmania, so we’re bringing a lot of new people to Tasmania, sampling all the latest produce and take in some of the greatest roads in Australia,” he said.
